Industrial metal detectors

Author: Office

Ever since the invention of metal detecting devices, the wide applicability of these devices has been expanded and applied to other and never before used sectors. Food processing became during industrialization fully automatic, i.e. it is done mainly by machines, and because of that fact contamination of food became more likely, predominantly through particles of metal, which came off the processing machines and ended up in the food. For that reason it became necessary to employ metal detectors in order to make sure that no contaminated food can exit the factory and get out to the consumer.
Food processing requires different kind of machines, depending on the food and on the processing chain. There are metal detectors for every use, they are adaptable and customizable to the processing machinery and the position of the machine in the chain of processing.
Some very sophisticated machines are able to detect any kind of metal, applications can range beyond food processing and most of the time such machines are being used in other industrial facilities than food processing. The capability to sense different metals and exclude even magnetite, if need be, make them perfect for use in mines. Recycling plants use these machines just as well, you don't want to have metal in your paper recycling chain.
Nevertheless, when speaking of paper, wood industry including the paper industry, really rely on such machines to work properly and save the production from serious damage. The wide application does not end there. Mines, which we mentioned, have many points where these machines can be employed, for instance, with coal mining there are five possible checking points where metal detection seems necessary. Quarrying in the mines, then in the mineral processing plant when at the crushing, during the grinding process, coking process and finally in transportation, to sift out debris which maybe entered the load.
Metal detectors can be positioned under conveyor belts, in conveyor systems, checking the product as it passes towards packaging. Other metal detectors are designed to examine food which is either moist or liquid, including any stage in between, while their dry counterparts are tailored to serve any food in solid and dry form, including powdered food groups, like powdered sugar or instant soups.
Industrial handheld probes are also available, to zero in on the contaminated heap, when an alarm has sounded and possibly interrupted or even diverted the process. It is possible to obtain industrial metal detectors in used and refurbished form, reducing the initial cost significantly. Many manufacturers offer such refurbished machines for purchase with limited warranties.
